You must have ESP. I actually have one in progress.

I put it in the XML plugin. Give it a try and let me know what you think.

I think you're the one who is reading my mind!
And wow, so quickly after I asked for it :-)

Latest update: I installed the XML jar and see this 2.8.7 version in Plugin Manager (under Manage tab), however, I can't find a way to get a json file to parse in Sidekick to show a tree view.

Appreciate any help from others that have figured this out. Would love to have this feature in my favorite editor! :)

Update: I think I answered my question by digging around a bit... found this page... going to try installing. https://sourceforge.net/projects/jedit-plugins/files/XML/2.8.7/

Hi Dale, Alan, how can I install the latest XML plugin that supports JSON tree view in the Sidekick, if I interpreted the above comments correctly?

Appreciate any pointers that explain the process... I swear I had JSON tree views in Sidekick before... or else my mind is slipping :)

Appreciate your time,
Paul

you can build it from SVN but right now I can't even access SVN. SF.net has problems lately.
XML 2.9 is due for release though, someone should make a release request.

hi Alan. Yea, I noticed SF was down the past (2?) days when checking for plugin updates.

Does the 2.8.7 version of XML jar not have the JSON-as-tree-view in Sidekick feature (maybe I am misinterpreting as wishful thinking) ?

If 2.8.7 parses and renders json files as I'm hoping, is there anything else needed to make it work? I've tried using xml (as well as json, ecma, javascript) modes and parsers, but nothing appears, and the activity log viewer shows no errors.

You need 2.9 to do JSON. Here is a link to my own build of it.

Voila! Beautiful. After loading the jar + installing Antlr, Sidekick parses & renders json outline very nicely.

I'd grown a bit desperate and installed an eclipse plugin this morning, but really prefer jedit for its nimbleness and my years' worth of use/macros/shortcuts :) https://marketplace.eclipse.org/content/json-editor-plugin

Thanks so much!

I've been traveling a lot and haven't been able to get back to the XML
plugin in a while. I believe it's version 3.0.0 of the XML plugin that I
added the json sidekick to. I have some time to work on this at the moment,
but it appears SF is going through an upgrade and the svn repositories are
not available right now.

I put a copy of my local version of the XML plugin on dropbox:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/oe8djyfg1cdluxb/XML.jar?dl=0

You can give this a try, and if you already have the previous version of
the XML plugin installed, you should have all the dependencies needed
except possibly the Antlr plugin, which is available through the plugin
manager.

Once SF comes back up and if I still have internet access, I'll do a
release request for the plugin.

Dale

Thanks, Dale. With Alan's help, I was able to get version 2.9 running, and I'm already addicted! Love it. Does 3.0 address defects or bring yet more features?

Regards,
Paul

No, not as far as json goes. I've done a little cleanup in the ecmascript
and html sidekicks, but nothing major at all.
